# Interacting with Meters - Derived Values

Let's assume that you have set the pressure to be 8000 kPa. Note that CyclePad has now used the information you have provided to calculate several values, such as the saturation pressure and temperature. These values appear in blue at the bottom of the meter.

Your analysis proceeds by adding information to CyclePad until you have all the answers you want. You can make assumptions and ask questions in any order you like. *As you go, and when you are finished, don't forget to save your work!*

As you assume parameter values, you are in effect constraining the values that the other parameters can take on. You may inadvertently overconstrain the value of a parameter, in which case it can either not have a value at all, or CyclePad finds that is calculating two or more different values for that parameter. When this happens, the contradiction dialog will appear. It displays the assumptions implicated in the contradiction, and you must retract one or more of them to resolve the contradiction before you can continue with your analysis of the cycle.

When you have derived the values you are looking for, you may want to investigate the relationship between a value that you have assumed and one that CyclePad has calculated. You use the Sensitivity Analysis tool, from the Tools pulldown menu, to do this.
