How does a spacecraft get to where its going?

How do AutoNav and the remote agent work together?

Remote Agent (the autonomous program on DS1 that does planning, scheduling and execution of orders during flight) knows when AutoNav course corrections should take place. Remote Agent gets information from AutoNav about which asteroids should be photographed. Remote Agent then uses the attitude control system to turn to those asteroids and directs MICAS to photograph them. The photographs go back to AutoNav. AutoNav uses triangulation to figure out the correct course, communicates the right course heading to Remote Agent, and Remote Agent fires DS1's attitude thrusters to change course.
